Product Specification
Silicon Carbide
Silicon carbide (SiC) is a hard, chemically stable compound of silicon and carbon produced by the Acheson process. In metallurgy and steelmaking, it is used as a deoxidizer, desulfurizer, and carburizer, offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional ferroalloy additions while improving steel cleanliness and yield.
Applications
- Deoxidation and desulfurization in electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaking
- Carburizing agent in cast iron and steel production
- Reductant in ladle metallurgy for slag conditioning
- Substitute for ferrosilicon in certain steelmaking applications
- Silicon and carbon source in foundry and smelting operations
